Sign a Petition

At Debt Collective, we know there is power in numbers. Just as creating a mass movement of debtors increases our power over creditors, signing petitions leverages our collective power to influence policymakers.

It can be frustrating to keep up with everything Congress and the administration is doing, and even more so to find ways to take action. We’ve put together a list of petitions and other action items so that you can share your thoughts on the issues that need our collective voice now.

These petitions make it easy because we’ve created language for you to use (but you can also feel free to customize the messages) and identified issues that we think deserve your time and attention. Please join us by signing the petitions below!

The Department of Education wrote a dangerous new regulation that would strip Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) from people based on their politics. Trump wants to use this rule to take PSLF eligibility away from any person or organization who disagrees with him. All Department of Education regulations are subject to congressional review, which means that Congress can overturn this regulation all on their own without waiting for the courts. We need to pressure them to do so.

The Trump administration just announced its intent to move the federal student debt portfolio from the Department of Education to the Treasury. There’s significant errors when transferring 2.5 million accounts between servicers, and now they want to transfer 45 million to an agency that has to learn on the job while managing the policy failure of $1.7 trillion in student loans. We need to call on the Trump administration to implement a one-year pause on federal student loan debt payment and collection services for all federal student debtors.
