The Debt Collective is the nation’s first union of debtors, organizing with debt as leverage in an era of finance capitalism. In the state of North Carolina—one of the worst states in the nation for labor organizing and ability to join a labor union—we see debtor organizing as an under-explored point of leverage that could complement labor efforts.
