Community Conversation: Medical Debt in Pittsburgh

The country is facing a medical debt crisis, and we’re feeling it in Pittsburgh.

Healthcare is getting more expensive, and salaries aren’t keeping up. Our families and communities are struggling – meanwhile, institutions like UPMC keep getting wealthier. It’s outrageous. That’s why the Debt Collective, Pittsburgh United, and the Right Care Alliance are inviting folks to come out THIS SATURDAY for a community conversation about medical debt. Join us as we share our experiences with the healthcare industry in Pittsburgh and discuss ways to support our communities and fight back.

Medical Debt Community Conversation

Democracy Now Appearance

We went on Democracy Now! this morning to push for full student debt cancelation and encourage folks to join us in Washington, D.C. on April 4th at the Department of Education. Our message: Pick Up The Pen, Joe.

“We are demanding that President Joe Biden pick up the pen and cancel student debt. The President can deliver this on his own without being stymied by Republicans or members of his own party.”

“Not only has he failed to keep that promise, the Biden administration is actually being quite harsh on student debtors. And only because of the pressure that the Debt Collective and other allies do we have a moratorium that extends through May.”
