Black Jubilee

We all know that household debts of all kinds disproportionately affect Black communities. Everything from medical debt to housing debt to carceral debt to student debt: Black people, and Black women in particular, carry the most.

Today we are on the verge of a HUGE win in student debt. Canceling student debt would narrow the racial wealth gap, and build the power of debtors – Black debtors! – to secure other victories in housing, healthcare, and an end to the carceral system.

But we gotta organize. So we’re writing to you to invite you to the Debt Collective’s first Black debtors’ assembly.
