Contingent Faculty Student Debt Office Hours: Know your rights. Know your options. Build collective power.

Over the past year, the Debt Collective has been hosting drop-in “office hours” for those who have questions about debt repayment, cancellation, wage theft (garnishment), and a host of other student debt related issues. This February 12^th, 2026, in partnership with the Contingency Task Force of Higher Education Labor United (HELU) and the Committee on Contingency and the Profession of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), the Debt Collective will host a special contingent faculty session of student debt office hours at 7pm ET.

During the call, audience members will hear about debt service options and have the opportunity to ask questions about specific student debt concerns. Discussing student debt in public is essential if we are to win universal cancellation. Alone our debts are a burden, but together they give us power.
