100 Days: From Shame to Solidarity – Politicizing & Sharing Your Story
“People need codes for how to be human. When those codes aren’t easily found, they’ll take whatever’s offered—no matter the cost.”
— Christine Emba, “Men Are Lost. Here’s a Map Out of the Wilderness”
Why are working-class people conditioned to feel ashamed about owing unjust debt? Why are we constantly told to embrace personal responsibility and “pull ourselves up by our bootstraps”? Because the ruling class spends billions shaping these narratives—encouraging us to police ourselves and each other instead of building solidarity.
Debtor solidarity is powerful. And we can fight back.
We can tell our own stories, radicalize our communities, and replace “codes of oppression” with “codes of liberation.” This workshop invites debtors to learn fundamental communication techniques and explore how politicizing personal experiences can inspire others to join organizing movements—building collective power and winning real material gains for the working class.
