DESCRIPTION:Join our the "Pick Up the Pen\, Joe" Day of Action to Cancel St
udent Debt on April 4\, 2022 at 12pm at Eisenhower Memorial\, Washington D
.C. The time to cancel student debt is is now. Biden has said the "final"
moratorium on student loan payments ends on May 1\, 2022. But\, we know ou
r communities are suffering. We also know President Biden has the authorit
y to fix it by picking up a pen and issuing an Executive Order to cancel a
ll student loan debt. It's a simple\, effective way for him to add billion
s back into our economy\, create jobs\, narrow the racial wealth gap\, and
help everyone in our country\, and it'd fulfill a campaign promise that s
o far he's broken.Despite our efforts\, calls from Congress for him to can
cel debt\, and a growing number of city resolutions demanding the same&mda
sh\;he has made no move to address this economic\, racial\, and gender inj
ustice. Debtors and our allies are taking action to say: Pick up the Pen\,
Joe . Cancel student debt for all 45 million Americans.

SUMMARY:Can't Pay\, Won't Pay: Book Club\, Session 4
DESCRIPTION:\nDebtors have been mocked\, scolded and lied to for decades. W
e have been told that it is perfectly normal to go into debt to get medica
l care\, to go to school\, or even to pay for our own incarceration. We’
ve been told there is no way to change an economy that pushes the majority
  of people into debt while a small minority hoard wealth and power.&nbsp\;
\n\n\n\nThe coronavirus pandemic has revealed that mass indebtedness and e
xtreme inequality are a political choice. In the early days of the crisis\
, elected officials drew up plans to spend trillions of dollars. The only
question was: where would the money go and who would benefit from the bail
out?&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nThe truth is that there has never been a lack of money
for things like housing\, education and health care. Millions of people ne
ver needed to be forced into debt for those things in the first place.&nbs
p\;\n\n\n\nArmed with this knowledge\, a militant debtors movement has the
potential to rewrite the contract and assure that no one has to mortgage
their future to survive.\n\n\n\nYou are invited to join our Debt Collectiv
e Book Club where we will explore these topics as we read&nbsp\;Can’t Pa
y\, Won’t Pay: The Case for Economic Disobedience and Debt Abolition.&nb

DESCRIPTION:\nWe all know that household debts of all kinds disproportionat

to carceral debt to student debt: Black people\, and Black women in parti

student debt. Canceling student debt would narrow the racial wealth gap\,
and build the power of debtors - Black debtors! - to secure other victorie
s in housing\, healthcare\, and an end to the carceral system.&nbsp\;\n\n\
