DESCRIPTION:On July 1\, millions of households across America received the 
 biggest bill increase of the year: their student loan payments. As Preside
 nt Trump’s changes to the student loan system take effect\, millions of 
 households are being kicked out of affordable repayment plans into plans t
 hat have doubled or tripped. \n\nAmid the affordability crisis\, housing 
 crisis\, and skyrocketing health insurance rates\, these surges in student
  loan payments are utterly unmanageable. \n\nAnd it’s not just that pay
 ments are too high. The collection system itself is broken. Borrowers are 
 not even able to get a clear idea from the Department of Education of how 
 much their payments will increase under Trump’s new plans. Debtors are r
 eceiving conflicting deadlines with severe consequences. Loan servicers ca
 n’t transfer accounts without making basic errors. The gutted Department
  of Education can barely keep up. The rules keep changing — leaving debt
 ors behind.\n\nUntil basic administrative competence in loan collections c
 an be guaranteed\, monthly federal student debt payments must be paused.\n
 \nThat’s why we are hosting a NEW YORK STATE DAY OF ACTION on AUG. 10\, 
 2026 to demand a payment pause. \n\nWe need Sen. Schumer and Gillibrand to
