DESCRIPTION:Do we have a communication problem on the left? Is the right-wi
 ng winning the culture war? Why and how is creativity and art that disturb
 s the status quo a necessary tool under authoritarianism?\nFascism isn’t
  merely a political ideology\, it is also a mode of thinking rooted in rig
 idity and adherence to archaic\, hierarchical worldviews. Thus\, liberator
 y creative processes can help us free masses of people. And since oligarch
 s prefer a public that is allergic to abstract thought and curiosity in ge
 neral\, when we strengthen our creative communications tactics\, we can be
 tter resist the prevalence of despair and inaction under authoritarianism.
 \nThis workshop will provide three key frameworks for using the artistic p
 rocess to support your organizing processes. Participants will walk away w
 ith a better understanding of the new media landscape and tactics for navi
 gating it with bravery and radical imagination.\n\nPresented by: \nMaddy C
 lifford\, MFA\, is an Oakland-based writer\, artist\, and organizer. She s
 pent eight years as a teaching artist at the San Francisco Juvenile Detent
 ion Center and later released a solo album\, downCHANTS\, as well as a mus
 ical score for the aerial dance piece Apparatus of Repair with Flyaway Pro
 ductions. Maddy is Creative Media Strategist with the Debt Collective\; he
